Jacobs is seeking a Database Administrator to support an upcoming contract at Fort Meade, MD.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide systems administration support for the core networks including analysis, design, software installation, partitioning, patch installation, device driver installation and configuration, testing, performance optimization, preventive maintenance, documentation, document workflow (FEITH) design and support, file system management, backup, and recovery operations.
Systems shall remain operational 98% of the time excluding hardware failures or other incidents that are out of the Contractor’s control.
Ensure data integrity within the NAS/SAN storage infrastructure by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Ensure data recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
Support media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
Maintain and monitor current production modules of database systems and perform all required database support for all database systems.
Coordinate with the System Administrator to partition the SAN for database use, develop standard operating procedures, test and install appropriate server upgrades and patches.
Perform daily, weekly and monthly backups of the DBMS, its data and hosts; conduct periodic restoration tests of backed up data and support Disaster Recovery and Support incident response policies and procedures including reporting and resolution.
Provide monthly database reports regarding SQL Server usage,uptime, and capacity to the COR/TTM.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of related experience, or Associate’s Degree with 6 years of experience, or Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of experience
- 4-8 years of related experience in data administration.
Required Security Environment Certification:
IAT II 8570 Baseline Certification - Sec+CE or equivalent Computing Env: MCSE
Data Management and Analytics [MS SQL Server]
Exam 70-464, or Exam 70-465, or Exam 70-762, or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
Security Clearance: TS/SCI
- Work is primarily sedentary. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal workday in connection with travel to and from meeting and conferences. May carry light items, such as reports, data products, notebooks and laptops.
Criticality of Attendance:
Shall be physically present on site during normal duty hours.
Must be available for contact outside of normal duty hours.
Equipment and Machines:
- Standard office equipment and machines: personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.
Other Essential Functions:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must pass drug testing.
Must be able to read and write effectively in English.
