Jacobs is seeking a System Administrator to provide Tier 2/3 mission applications-focused technical expertise for Java-based enterprise-level, national security-impacting messaging missions housed in Linux hosting environments utilizing advanced troubleshooting and analysis methods.
In this role, you will interact directly with Tier 2/3 counterparts via multiple secure mediums across the Intelligence Community and the customer’s enterprise to resolve technical issues impacting the messaging mission. You will use your prior experience with automated tracking/ticketing tools, using and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures, and become versed in the dataflows used throughout the various security domains supported by our messaging missions.
Other duties include:
Performs log level troubleshooting and analysis of virtually hosted, highly available software applications written in Java and hosted on multiple geographically disparate regions on Linux platforms ensuring restoration of services within operationally established timelines.
Documents and escalates unsolved issues to the integration lead, system architect and development team
Installs, configures, and performs updates/patching for software applications used in this critical mission with minimal supervision.
This is a rotational on-call position with a two (2) hour response time.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
TS/SCI Clearance with polygraph required
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer engineering or in a field related to the computer engineering or computer science disciplines
10 years System Administration experience. An additional 4+ years of System Administration experience may be substituted for the degree for a total of 14 years.
5+ years experience in integrating and troubleshooting distributed systems with multiple applications in Linux-based environments
3+ years experience installing and configuring GOTS and COTS software applications
1+ years experience creating and analyzing bash and Perl shell scripting
2+ years experience with log management and network protocols
Strong organizational and time management skills, including multi-tasking and work independently with minimum supervision
JMS messaging experience a definite plus
Experience configuring servers, networks, and storage
Experience with firewalls, IP tables, and user account management
Experience with virtual machine management
Experience with OS performance tuning and Linux security
Current certification such as A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP or Security+ CE
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance is always critical. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
