Jacobs Software Engineer - 1-TS/SCI with Poly in Fort Meade, Maryland

Your Impact:

The Software Engineer 1 is responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of complex and diverse software systems, encompassing processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems, all based on well-documented requirements. This role can be performed individually or as part of a collaborative team effort. Key responsibilities and contributions include:

· Reviewing and testing software components to ensure they align with design requirements, meticulously documenting test results.

· Swiftly resolving software problem reports and discrepancies to maintain system integrity.

· Employing software development and design methodologies suitable for the specific development environment, taking into account hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions where possible instead of new development. This also involves in-depth requirements analysis and synthesis, from the system level down to individual software components.

· Analyzing user requirements to derive software design and performance criteria for optimal results.

· Debugging existing software and rectifying defects to ensure the reliability and stability of the software systems.

· Offering recommendations for enhancing documentation and software development processes, thereby adhering to industry standards.

· Designing and coding new software or modifying existing software to introduce new features and functionalities.

· Seamlessly integrating existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments to ensure compatibility and efficiency.

· Developing simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories to facilitate data access and management.

· Composing or reviewing software and system documentation for clarity and comprehensibility.

· Assuming the role of a team lead when necessary, depending on the software development process employed for a given project.

· Designing and implementing intricate database or data repository interfaces and queries to optimize data retrieval and manipulation.

· Developing or implementing advanced algorithms to meet or surpass system performance and functional standards, ensuring high-quality software solutions.

  • · Assisting in the development and execution of test procedures for software components to validate their functionality and reliability.

· Crafting software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, collaborating with users or system engineers, studying systems flow, data utilization, and work processes, and investigating and addressing problem areas.

· Modifying existing software to rectify errors, adapt to new hardware, or enhance overall performance.

· Designing, developing, and modifying software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure the outcome and consequences of the design decisions made.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Education:

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.

Minimum Years of Experience:

· Seven (7) years’ experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
