Jacobs SLG is seeking to fill a Temporary Intern Help Desk Support position to support the Information Technology group located in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Work involves providing help desk support as needed to include resetting passwords, resolving customer IT related issues, building desktop/laptop computers, and installing/managing/configuring software on desktop/laptop computers. Perform testing, implementation, operation, and support of systems while maintaining the quality and reliability of services.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Must be enrolled in a technology related degree program.

Knowledge of some of the following: software and network engineering concepts, principles, methods, and practices; security principles and methods; COTS products and components; Internet technologies to analyze the Internet potential of systems; new and emerging information technologies and/or industry trends; project management principles and methods

Knowledge of Microsoft DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory; Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or later versions.

Requires basic knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting methods.

Oral and written communication techniques sufficient to accomplish assignments such as: planning and carrying out simple assignments; provide advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of technical desktop issues;

Must be skillful in approaching contacts to resolve issues and/or gain compliance with established policies and regulations by persuasion or negotiation.

This position requires basic knowledge of computer troubleshooting techniques, configuration, and network communications theory

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to

complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required.

Work Environment

Must be able to work independently and with a group of people.

Equipment and Machines

Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.

Attendance

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

Must be able to work within the shift hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. May be required to work long and unusual hours based on business needs.

Other essential functions

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

Travel requirements – May require occasional travel.
