Jacob’s is seeking a high-energy, team player to join us as a full-time Civil Engineering Co-Op in our Cleveland, Ohio, or Columbus, Ohio office. This opportunity is your chance to work on interesting and complex transportation engineering projects that include traffic operational analysis, safety studies and analysis, traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, and traffic/roadway design. You will work on challenging and exciting planning and design projects. The majority of work will be associated with state DOTs and local program projects.

Our top candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), a basic understanding of GIS and CAD systems, and is interested in applying highway safety research to transportation planning and design projects. Experience with computer programming is a plus. There will be the opportunity to work on exciting transportation and safety projects across the country.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Report daily to either the Cleveland, Ohio, or Columbus, Ohio office (except on preapproved occasions)

· Work with planning and analysis teams in support of local and national traffic safety and operations projects

· Prepare, analyze, and evaluate data (safety data, crash reports, demographic information) from sources such as various Departments of Transportation, local clients, and manual data collection.

· Visually present the data in tables, charts, graphs, diagrams, and maps using programs.

· Participate in client and stakeholder meetings as a representative of Jacobs.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Basic understanding of GIS and CADD systems.

  • Experience in computer programming is a plus

  • General knowledge of engineering principles and materials

  • Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize
