Jacobs is expanding our Energy & Power team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future.

By joining our team, as an Electrical Application Engineer you will work on various exciting opportunities including decarbonization planning development and resource analysis. Individual will complete advanced end to end software engineering tasks for specific system assignments including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, and implementing based on user or system specifications, consulting with users to determine software or system functional specifications, managing interaction between the systems and other technical support areas. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform analysis, design, development, and configuration functions as well as define technical requirements for engineering and utility-related assignments of intermediate complexity.

  • Participate with team to perform analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity and escalate appropriately.

  • Work within guidelines set by team to independently tackle well-scoped problems.

  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering with a focus on software/hardware systems.

  • Ten years of programming/development experience.

  • Development experience for production ready applications for modern desktop, web, and mobile environments. Windows, Android, and Apple platforms.

  • Professional software development and engineering practices and standards, full development and testing life cycle, agile, scrum, etc.

  • Architecture and design patterns, N-tier, MVC, MVVM, inversion of control, etc.

  • Modern databases and data theory, SQL, NoSQL, relational vs document-style data topologies. Proficient in SQL, stored procedures, indexing, etc.

  • Concurrency and distributed systems, parallelism, threading, asynchronous programming.

  • Algorithms and computational science, probabilistic modeling, data mining, machine learning, optimization, etc. Will be responsible for developing and implementing models for various purposes, such as classifying data or simulating physical processes and systems, which need to be implemented into production.

  • Windows API and .Net Framework guru. Proficient with WPF and XAML-based UI. Cross platform experience with Xamarin preferred.

  • Server APIs, REST, SOAP, JSON, data serialization

  • Data security and cryptography

  • 3D graphics, game engine design, shader programming. DirectX 11 & 12. Experience in video game development is preferred. Will be responsible for graphically complex software that both visualizes and facilitates the design and engineering of physical systems.

  • Critical programming languages: C#, C++ Additional programming languages: HTML, R, python, JavaGood knowledge of Cloud Platforms and deployment models (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud etc).

  • Familiar with technologies related to packaging and deploying Cloud Native applications such as containerizations (e.g. Docker & Kubernetes) and Red Hat OpenShift

  • Experience with database technologies (SQL & NoSQL) such as Cloudant, MongoDB etc

  • Experience with Source Control Management concepts (preferably GitHub)

  • Experience with data visualization and data interface to develop high impact visualization components.
