Our Fort Worth, Texas, Energy and Power unit is looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to their team with a background in central utility (chilled water, steam, hot water, etc) plant and utility distribution design and master planning. Core competencies include equipment selection, heat and mass balance calculations, hydraulic system modeling, development of process and instrumentation diagrams, pipe stress modeling and design, cost estimating and life cycle cost analysis.
Lead the production of detailed construction drawings and specifications as Engineer in responsible charge.
Support projects through construction, including shop drawing reviews, responding to RFI's and performing site observations.
Coordinate work efforts with multi-disciplined engineering and CADD teams to ensure quality control.
Coordinate project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians.
Conduct field investigations to obtain data regarding existing conditions and to identify plant improvement and optimization opportunities.
Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommending necessary changes.
Research code issues and obtain necessary approvals with City, State, and County officials.
Research design options and document findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
Lead, mentor and delegate tasks to engineering staff.
Attend kick-off and review meetings while interacting with clients or contractors.
May be involved with presentations to clients.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
Current Professional Engineering license is required
Minimum of 6 years design experience is required
Must exhibit a strong desire to take ownership of deliverables and have good presentation skills
Minimum of 10 years design experience is preferred
Experience with commercial or industrial chillers and cooling towers is preferred
Experience with steam plant equipment (boilers, deaerators, make-up water and blow-down systems, etc) is desired, but not required
Experience with co-generation equipment including reciprocating engine generators, combustion turbine generators, heat recovery steam generators or steam turbine generators is desired, but not required
Experience with air emission control systems is desired, but not required
Experience with water treatment systems is desired, but not required
Experience with 3D modeling and viewing software such as AutoCAD, CADWorx, Revit and NavisWorks is desired, but not required
Experience with one or more of the following design tools is preferred: hydraulic modeling software such as Pipe-Flo, or Pipe 2000; combined cycle plant modeling software such as THERMOFLEX, Pipe Stress Modelling Software such as CAESAR
- Experience with similar software packages is also acceptable
