The Federal deign practice serves numerous federal clients including USACE, NAVFAC, Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, and federal civilian agencies for all types of facilities around the globe.

In Dallas-Fort Worth our Federal design practice also works closely with the rest of our Buildings & Infrastructure Line of Business to collaborate on designs for private and local public sector clients on building and facility types including airports, Data Centers, hospitals, laboratories, educational facilities, and other commercial and institutional projects.

Position Summary

Our Federal Design Group is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its MEP Facilities Design team in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area.

At Jacobs our Sr. Electrical Engineers have exceptional design and analysis skills, which they utilize to plan and design electrical systems for federal buildings and facilities, including hangars, training facilities, squadron operations facilities and other federal projects.

  • Design complete electrical systems, including low and medium voltage distribution

  • Knowledge of low voltage systems such as telecommunications, access control and security systems is a plus

  • Perform calculations for lighting systems and associated controls

  • Prepare load analysis, including arc flash analysis, for the advanced stages of design

  • Prepare detailed project electrical systems drawings

  • Prepare basis of design report for the project

  • Prepare and document energy compliance calculations and forms

  • Select equipment and fixtures for use in the building

  • Select and prepare specifications for electrical equipment

  • Manage an electrical project team

  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects

  • Lead meetings to discuss design issues and communicate with clients to establish their needs

  • Manage quality of work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred

  • PE License is required

  • Minimum 10 years working for a MEP firm is required

  • Previous Federal project experience is required

  • Proof of US Citizen is required

  • Proficiency in REVIT or AutoCAD software is required

  • Proficiency in SKM, etap or similar design software is required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills is required

  • Government security clearance is a plus

  • LEED AP is preferred
