At Jacobs our Senior Mechanical Engineers lead a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. The mechanical team at Jacobs is consistently tasked with the most interesting and complicated design challenges to help the Federal Government fulfill their mission.

General

  • Market focused to specific DoD (i.e., USACE districts, NAVFAC, etc.,) or defense contractor clients.

  • Assist other market sectors (i.e. electric vehicle, mission critical, healthcare) in technical and project execution.

Proposals

  • Responsible for responding to request for proposals (RFPs).

  • Define and maintain Mechanical & Plumbing scope.

  • Establish Mechanical & Plumbing budgets while working with sales and project management team.

  • Develop Mechanical & Plumbing design execution plans.

Program level execution

  • Large project/program lead experience of multiple simultaneous building project execution (10 building projects that are executed under a single contract).

  • Lead teams of multiple licensed engineers.

  • Establish project staffing plans.

  • Monitor and guide design leads to ensure design progresses in alignment with project schedule.

  • Maintain project quality and coordination between disciplines.

Employee Development / Mentoring

  • Coach licensed engineers in project execution.

  • Monitoring project design lead interactions with internal/external client communication.

  • Provide guidance in problem solving.

  • Provide performance review input.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will assist with design-build & design-bid-build project pursuits, quality reviews, team technical development and project staffing. You will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the Federal projects working in conjunction with a technical team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for signing work done under their supervision. As the team leader, you will also be responsible for the professional growth of your team.

This role may be worked hybrid with a potential 2-day minimum in the office.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering 

  • At least 15 years relevant professional experience for buildings-related design projects

  • Professional Engineer (PE)

  • Proficiency in Revit, 3D CADD

  • Proficiency designing with UFCs, UFGS and other Federal delivery requirements

  • United States Citizenship

  • Sophisticated verbal & written communications skills tailored to audience based on situation.

  • Navigate associated codes and standards (UFC, IMC, ASHRAE 90.1, Energy code, Life safety codes, and owner’s requirements)

Ideally, You’ll Also Have: 

  • Federal including DoD, Federal Civilian and/or Defense Contractor project experience
