Based in Fresno, California, you will be performing mostly full-time onsite geotechnical observation of CIDH pile construction, driven pile construction, loading tests, and mitigation (repair) work. You must have good communication skills and be able to document field observations clearly. An understanding and ability to read contract plans and specifications is required. You may also assist in construction submittals review and other engineering construction tasks depending on schedule and availability.

You’ll have the chance to perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation projects. Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls and support of excavation systems. You will prepare and review technical reports, data reports and baseline reports.

You’ll also Participate in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing); geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of the construction of geotechnical structures (earth retaining structures, deep foundations, dams, tunnels, and shallow foundations), as well as oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

The base salary range for this position is $70,800 to $110,700. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering with 2-4 years of experience in geotechnical design

· Design and construction experience with deep foundations including cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles and driven piles

· Flexibility to travel for office and field assignments

· Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ideally, you’ll also have:

· Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

· Previous experience in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems

· Knowledge of and experience with APile, LPile, Shaft, Slide or SlopeW, and Bentley gINT
