As a Transportation Structural Engineer based in Fresno, California, you will be a key team member in the design for construction process, reviewing structural construction submittals, shop drawings and rebar lists, and request for information (RFI) responses. You will also be responsible for coordinating and reviewing construction submittals provided by field staff and assist in scheduling and communicating with other project staff in reviewing and returning submittals. Periodic construction site visits for observations of the construction site may occur as needed.

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to perform structural engineering design and analysis of bridges, foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation and water infrastructure projects for both public and private clients. Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of bridges and foundation structures, retaining walls, and review of construction phase submittals, shop drawings, and responding to RFIs. You may also prepare and review technical reports, data reports and baseline reports.

The base salary range for this position is $86,000 to $134,350. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations [add if remote]. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering.

· Engineering experience with 3-7 years of experience in transportation structural design.

· Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering.

· Practical knowledge of reinforcement detailing and rebar shop drawings review.

· Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills.

· Ability to review workplans prepared by the construction team and understanding the means and methods of construction.

· Knowledge of concrete mix design per ACI and AASHTO.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MathCad).

Ideally, you’ll also have:

· California PE license or ability to obtain within one year.

· Previous experience in structural design and evaluations, with experience during the construction phase.

· Knowledge of reinforced concrete design, prestressed and post tensioned concrete design.

· Knowledge of and experience with Midas Civil, LPile, other structural design programs, and Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
