Based in Fresno, California, you will be located in the project office as a Transportation Engineer and Deputy Design Manager during construction. Experience with design and construction of complex bridge structures, retaining walls, and deep foundations including cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles and driven piles is highly preferred. You will work directly to manage and coordinate onsite and offsite staff in processing construction submittals, developing and reviewing repair plans, assisting in responding to non-conformance reports, field design changes, and performing structural analysis of bridges, retaining walls, and foundations. You will also be responsible for reviewing construction submittals provided by field staff and assist in scheduling and communicating with other project staff in reviewing and returning submittals.

This role is ideal for a structural engineer that wants to work alongside the construction team and be an integral part of the success of a project as it is being built. Daily tasks and coordination with the construction team will facilitate construction and require problem solving for resolution of field issue to maintain construction progress. You’ll also participate in field assignments that will include observation of the construction site to confirm conformance with the Release for Construction Drawings.

The base salary range for this position is $103,600 to $170,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations [add if remote]. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus in structural engineering.

· Engineering experience with 10 or more years of experience in transportation structural design.

· Familiarity with Caltrans standard plans and Caltrans bridge design manual.

· Design and construction experience with highway, railway, retaining wall and other structures.

· Knowledge of reinforced concrete design, prestressed and post tensioned concrete design.

· Knowledge in concrete mix design per ACI and AASHTO.

· Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MathCad).

Ideally, you’ll also have:

· California PE license or ability to obtain within one year.

· Previous experience in developing and reviewing construction repair and procedures.

· Familiarity with falsework design and temporary SOE systems during construction staging.

· Familiarity with quality control activities such as pre-pour inspections, etc.

· Knowledge of and experience with Midas Civil, CSiBridge, LPile, FB-Multipier, and CTAbut.
