Jacobs Civil Engineering Intern - Gainesville, FL in Gainesville, Florida
Jacobs’s Gainesville, Florida office is looking for a highly motivated Civil Engineering Intern to work supporting multi-discipline designs including site development, water/wastewater facilities, constructed wetlands, environmental remediation, conveyance projects, etc. This position will primarily support mid- and senior-level engineers to complete planning/study documents, preliminary design, detailed design, permitting documents, and engineering reports.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Work under the supervision of senior level engineers
Perform a wide variety of routine assignments which require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
Support conceptual and detailed designs for multi-discipline projects for civil/water/wastewater/environmental infrastructure
Coordinate with other disciplines such as architects, mechanical, structural, electrical and process
Assist in completing civil design tasks related to:
Site development and Site/facilities layout
Stormwater and drainage
Roadway and pavement
Grading
Erosion and sedimentation control
Utilities and conveyance piping
Complete tasks assigned on time, within budget, and to high level of quality
Assist in the preparation of plans and specifications, engineering reports, engineer’s cost estimates, and quantity take-offs
Assist in the Preparation technical documents and reports
Assist in perform site civil design using CADD tools such as Microstation, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations and details
Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities, as required
Review construction submittals for conformance to contract and design documents
Work with Excel, AutoCAD, Microstation, and other modeling tools to perform site civil calculations and designs
Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from a four year degreed ABET accredited civil engineering program with a minimum of 3.3 GPA
Familiarity in the use of CADD tools, such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Possess high ethical values and strong sense of commitment to self-development, team work, and desire to work in a deadline driven team environment
Exercise judgment required in developing plans or alternatives
Preferred Qualifications
Civil 3D or Microstation Experience
Some experience performing stormwater design calculations, roadway and pavement design, grading and drainage design, erosion and sedimentation control design, and stormwater pollution prevention plan development and calculations
Some experience supporting site civil design projects
