About the opportunity

Our Safety Case Engineers are working collaboratively across diverse markets in the civil nuclear and Defence sectors on both national and international projects. Our work spans the nuclear lifecycle, including next-generation systems and emerging reactor technologies, supporting the operation of existing nuclear facilities and systems, and solving complex decommissioning challenges. Our work demonstrates that the facility, system or operation can be conducted safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

As an Engineering, Science or Mathematics Graduate, you will work alongside other technical professionals with the responsibility to identify potential hazards and risks, quantify their consequences and assess what available controls or measures can prevent or mitigate them. The role will entail providing safety case support across the feasibility, design, operation and decommissioning nuclear lifecycle, and for the production of all required nuclear safety documentation. This will require engagement with multiple disciplines to ensure the appropriate balance of technical safety principles and engineering requirements.

Opportunities are available in Glasgow, Knutsford, Newcastle, Scrabster or Warrington offices.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Be working towards a Degree or Masters level qualification in a relevant subject such as science, mathematics or engineering

  • A flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward.

  • Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning new things.

  • You must have the permanent right to work in the UK.

As a US owned organisation Jacobs is required to comply with certain US legislation, including atomic energy export control regulations. For some roles, this means that export control authorisations may be required to enable sensitive disclosures to those holding certain third country nationalities. In addition, all employees with access to government assets are required to hold Baseline Vetting and Security Clearance (BPSS) as a minimum and, should the role require it, enhanced security clearance beyond BPSS. Any offer of employment will be subject to the relevant security and export control requirements for the role being met.
