The Government Solutions sector within Jacobs UK Ltd. provide engineering, design, construction, planning, support, survey, design-build, project management and/or program management for our Nuclear and Defence Industry clients. With more than fifty years of experience across the complete nuclear and defence asset lifecycle, we support client delivery and the associated infrastructure requirements at every stage of a project.

Position Summary

Our team is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice and we have a need for a strong Senior Electrical Engineer.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Performs the design and monitors ongoing process of a project, including the coordination of the project with government officials and other outside agencies

  • Prepare plans, functional and technical specifications, contract documents and estimates.

  • Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of systems and equipment for industrial and commercial applications.

  • Participates in contract bidding and administration: observes project activity on site.

  • Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects

  • Interfaces and co-ordinates with Safety Case and System Requirements teams.

  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements.

  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer.

  • Serves as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams

  • Performs other duties assigned by a Lead Engineer or Project Manager.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Professionally qualified (e.g. Incorporated/Chartered) Engineer with a degree (preferred but not necessary) in a relevant discipline.

  • Background in project design work in specialist area preferred (i.e. nuclear and defence sector).

  • Experience in HV generation and distribution systems and associated control and protection.

  • Experience in electrical building services and LV systems.

  • Experience in cable sizing and using cable sizing software.

  • Demonstrated record of maintaining own skills and knowledge at the forefront of the field

  • Commercial awareness.

  • Experience in a contracting environment, relevant site experience.

  • Possess suitable security clearance or capable of obtaining relevant NSV clearance under.

  • Must be a sole UK national.

  • Willing to work in Glasgow/West Scotland location.
