About the opportunity

To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are looking to appoint an engaged and enthusiastic Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join our thriving team based in Scotland.

As one of our UK centres of excellence for hydraulic modelling, we have offices centrally located in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Day-to-day, you will support the modelling team lead with originating complex or innovative studies as well as guiding and checking the work of more junior staff on a range of hydraulic modelling studies.

The successful individual will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of hydraulic modelling across a range of applications and will have the necessary skills to support with mentoring and development of staff.

Our Water Catchment Management Business Unit provides a focus for advising our clients on River Engineering and Flood Risk Management solutions including flood defence structures, weirs, gates, sluices, flood storage reservoirs, natural flood management, habitat creation, hydrometric gauging facilities and fish passes.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

With a track record of delivering large and complicated pieces of work you are a technical leader with experience of managing people and project delivery to maintain high levels of performance. Happy to take ownership of your own and your teams performance you are comfortable delegating work, checking others work and ensuring high standards of delivery. An innovative thinker you strive for continual improvement. You are commercially aware with a strong understanding of the UK water and environment sector and the requirements of working in fast paced consultancy.

Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in an Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography or related discipline

Chartered (or working towards chartership) with an appropriate Professional Body (preferably ICE or CIWEM)

Good experience in implementing 1D and 2D modelling techniques for river, urban and coastal flooding applications.

Good knowledge and practice of Flood Modeller and Tuflow software (and ideally knowledge of Infoworks ICM river, drainage and 2D modelling)

Analysing, managing, and interpreting data using GIS software such as Mapinfo, ArcGIS and QGIS

Supporting the development of technical scopes, programmes and budget-setting, and gaining approvals
