Jacobs Senior Mechanical Engineer – Mechanical Handling in Glasgow, United Kingdom

About the opportunity:

Our International Government Solutions team provides a diverse range of services including civil and structural engineering, mechanical and electrical building services, mechanical handling, systems engineering, nuclear safety case development, and project and programme management. As demand for our services continue to increase, we are looking to recruit high calibre staff to bolster our well-established and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects include developing solutions through all RIBA stages in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear power stations.

  • We require an experienced Mechanical Handling Engineer, preferably with experience of working in the nuclear and/or defence industries, but also those with relevant industrial design experience looking to work in a technically challenging environment.

In this role you be part of a several hundred strong Government Solution team across the UK, however you will work within the smaller Mechanical Engineering team based in Glasgow with occasional business travel to Client sites

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree and Chartership. CEng

  • Significant experience in a role having direct influence over cranes/ mechanical handling design practice and outcomes

  • Experience of major engineering delivery on EPC projects

  • Producing/reviewing engineering estimates and programmes

  • Implementation of design verification and validation

  • Undertaking discipline design phase reviews

  • General knowledge of key cross industry regulations and standards including CDM

  • Experience of engineering in procurement, construction, commissioning phase
