Business Unit Description:

With more than fifty years of Nuclear experience, Jacobs has unrivalled nuclear capability and provides full life-cycle solutions to our nuclear clients. Services include programme and project management, design and engineering, reactor support, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, (radioactive) waste management, decommissioning and clean-up.

Role Outline/Responsibilities:

Client Overview:

Hinkley Point C is a nuclear site, based in West Somerset, 15 miles from Bridgwater.

The NNB ambition is to build two major EPR nuclear plants.

Team Overview:

This position will be embedded into a newly built organisation, the Design Management Team (DMT), within the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) Programme which focuses on delivering on-time a safe, mature, constructible and commissionable design to drive for ‘25 the MEH erection activities from start of Detailed Design to end of Execution Design.

The DMT is made up of operational teams from within each organisation (Edvance Fr and UK, CNEPE, DET, SET, MEH JV Alliance Engineering), which are embedded in DMT. They all work as one team, to ensure delivery of Design in line with DMT objectives.

Primary Mission, Ambitions and Driving Principles of MEH DMT:

Mission:

  • Deliver on-time a safe, mature, constructible and commissionable design to drive for “25 the MEH erection activities

Ambitions:

  • Accountable for one integrated level 3 engineering schedule from “End-to-End

  • Accountable for the integrated delivery of MEH Design from “End-to-End”, in a building and system perspective

  • Provides constructible Design deliverables with appropriate quality and maturity level

  • Supports Configuration Management

  • Leverages on lessons learnt from Taishan and Flamanville 3 Projects and ensures continuous and progressive improvement linked to Design, Constructability and repetition as project evolves

HPC ITPIA Mechanical Engineering Support

  • Supports the backlog reduction initiative in the frame of Conformity Assessment activities.

  • Engage with stakeholders (HPC, Framatome and ITPIA personnel) to coordinate and support the conformity assessment process.

  • Monitor progress on the technical documentation approval status, anticipate and prioritise based on scheduled activities and milestones. Creates and maintains adequate trackers

  • Actively support the resolution of Non-conformances and open points.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Qualifications - External

Essential:

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering

• Working site knowledge in the design & delivery of large complex mechanical projects

• Commissioning experience

• Understanding of civil & anchorages

• Ability to work collaboratively and in an integrated team environment

• Ability to produce informative, concise reports

• Good organisational and time management skills

• Excellent communications skills & interpersonal skills, including questioning for clarification and establishing of facts, observation and active listening

• Ability to cope well under pressure & work within tight timeframes

• Clear decision-making ability with the acumen to judge complex situations & assess when to escalate issues

• Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

• Proficient in MS Office

• Fluent English – written & verbal

Desirable:

• Experience working in a regulated, secure nuclear environment.

• Experience and understanding of working in a Nuclear and Safety Quality Culture

• Experience in Mechanical, Electrical or HVAC erection

• Awareness of EDF standards & procedures beneficial.

• Membership of an appropriate professional institution.

• Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment

• French language – written & verbal.

Accepting Engineering Levels:

• Graduate / Junior / Engineer / Senior Engineer / Chartered

Security Clearance:

• BPSS level security clearance required.

Additional:

• Must recognise the importance of nuclear safety and zero harm.
