The energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate for regional and global decarbonization and energy transition targets. HVDC technology is increasingly becoming a major player in this energy paradigm shift to enable large-scale renewable energy generation, such as offshore wind.
As a vital member of our team, you’ll be recognized as an industry leader and expert with Jacobs’ clients. This is a global role where you’ll be collaborating and working across multiple disciplines and regions to leverage Jacobs’ advisory, planning, permitting, and engineering expertise to strengthen our position in the power & energy market.
As the Global HVDC Systems & Offshore Grids Lead, you will closely work with regional HVDC and power transmission experts within Jacobs to lead and support ongoing HVDC related business development, projects, staffing needs, and thought leadership to represent Jacobs with clients and industry conferences. To achieve this, it is expected that you will have significant experience as a technical SME and/or Senior Project Delivery on large scale HVDC projects (onshore and/or offshore) as well as business and proposal development.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized institution (Master’s or PhD degree in power systems, an asset)
•Membership of a recognised professional institution /organisation preferably at a Fellowship level
•Significant discipline/ industry presence recognised and valued by Jacobs’ clients at the national or international level.
•Industry recognized expertise as an HDVC Technical Authority able to work with our teams to solve technical problems and achieve a high level of assurance on project deliverables.
•Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE and CIGRE
•Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results
•Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with ability to identify and convey a convincing value proposition
•Experience across a broad range of clients including renewable developers
•Ability and willingness to travel globally
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
•Direct experience with HVDC applications in offshore wind
•Active ongoing involvement in HVDC-delated working groups and standards committees
