Jacobs has carried out numerous engineering, procurement and construction contracts to support operations for the South African public electricity utility, Eskom.
At Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town, our projects range from providing additional spent fuel cooling capacity, station blackout mitigation and new hydrogen production and bulk storage plant, through to replacing the refuelling water storage tank.
Our largest single contract to date is for essential engineering modifications to allow the installation of new steam generators. This is part of a $1.2 billion (ZAR 20 billion) program for a 20-year life extension at Koeberg, which is South Africa’s sole nuclear power plant and generates 5% of the country’s electricity.
We are hiring a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa.
The post-holder will be responsible for the compilation and review of Mechanical Designs mainly for piping system EPC projects, in compliance with Clients, Codes/Standards and internal requirements. This position is 100% technical role.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
We need you to be Bachelors’ Degree qualified (or equivalent) with some engineering experience and a Professional Registration (PrENG).
You will have experience of codes and standards including ASME B31.1, SANS 347 and the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress.
It would be useful if you were familiar with engineering fundamentals for dynamic systems and engineering software packages. We would also like to see knowledge of Stress Analysis using CEASER and Pressure Equipment Directive and Regulations.
