Your Impact:

The Applicant for this position will be responsible for designing and building Ground Support Electronics test hardware such as ground support equipment (GSE) racks. Develops software for system testing using National Instruments LabVIEW to achieve test requirements. Performs software testing, verification and certification prior to use with space flight hardware. LabVIEW programming and HMI interfaces Production, installation and commissioning of NI based systems. Integrated commissioning of the NI based systems. Interfacing with or design of scientific instruments or systems. Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team Effective/excellent verbal and written communication skills. Documentation, operation and enhancement of NI based systems. Liaison with other engineers and scientists to form requirements for NI based systems. Detailed design and specification of hardware, distributed IO and infrastructure components. Detailed design of software structure and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Undergrad or Graduate degree from an accredited college. LabVIEW Certification (Certified LabVIEW Developer) a plus. Excellent understanding of designing, engineering and implementing National Instruments (NI) systems associated with distributed control, real time control, timing and data acquisition systems is required. Minimum of 3 years relevant LabVIEW design experience. Strong understanding of LabVIEW programming, Object Oriented and/or Actor-Framework programming. Demonstrated experience developing detailed test procedures, instrumentation and configuration definition, ability to perform the test and minimize risk of space flight hardware within the constraints of a test plan. Designs test hardware such as ground support equipment (GSE) racks. Develops software for system testing using National Instruments LabVIEW to achieve test requirements. Performs software testing, verification and certification prior to use with space flight hardware. Determines calibration specifications, functional and/or environmental test requirements and need for test requirements, equipment, and facilities. Monitors progress of tests for validity of test conditions, means of measurement and performance of component or unit in relation to specifications. Analyzes, processes, and formats data to customer requirements. Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer. Prepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements. Presents test results internally and archives data and reports. Provides technical assistance and conducts training in the operation and test of new products with test personnel. Collaborating with an eingineering team in the correction of problems and integrate, characterize, and test devices. Integrated control of high voltage or high current systems. Integrated control or acquisition of diagnostic systems. Interest in large science or R&D projects. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy Experience working in a fast paced facility engineering environment.

  • Various laboratory test equipment i.e. (DMM, PS, Oscilloscope, Power Meter, Ampere meters, Ampere probes, etc. etc.)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out automated performance tests, using LabVIEW and develop test fixtures, setup test hardware, prepare flight hardware for testing, and perform testing and test data analysis and test report writing.

  • Must be well acquainted with space hardware handling requirements and contamination control in the handling and protection of aerospace hardware and subsystems possibly in a clean room and laminar flow bench environments, and be ESD cognizant, trained and certified to handle flight hardware.
