Maintenance Engineer

Description

Job Purpose: To provide maintenance engineering expertise inmaintaining all assets, power plant, equipment and facilities.Improve equipment maintainability and reliabilityby increasing the mean time between failure (MTBF) while reducing the mean timeto repair (MTTR).

KeyResponsibilities & Tasks:

  • Follows the direction of the Maintenance & ReliabilityEngineer.A certain degree of creativity and latitude isrequired.

  • Review and develop preventive maintenanceplans.

  • Evaluate and make determination to accept/rejectassets proposed to the contract.

  • Maintain library of O&M manuals.

  • Conduct design reviews for reliability andmaintainability of NASA facilities projects.

  • Perform/assist the QC Manager and Maintenance& Reliability Engineer with Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes andAffects Analyses.

  • Analyzes reports/data and makes decisions fromPredictive Testing and Inspection activities (such as the collection of oilsamples for analysis and oil analysis software, ultrasonic and ultrasoundtesting and analysis, and thermography.)

  • Calculate and track costs avoidances and savingsof improvements or value engineering/plus.Draft reports for value engineering/plus savings for the client toreview.

  • Assist in the development of preventativemaintenance schedules (PM).

  • Assist RCM team, shops personnel, and visitingspecialist engineers when necessary.

  • Report breakdown root cause, equipment faultsand concerns to management.

  • Familiar with the use of the CMMS MAXIMO, andJob Plans within MAXIMO for each piece of equipment.Familiar with UOTS outage process and system.

  • Plan / prioritize workload to support productionand ensure efficient use of working time.

  • Typical example of work would be to respond tomaintenance request for equipment fault, diagnose fault repair and guidetechnician in returning equipment to operational service. All work to becarried out operating in a safe and efficient manner. (A process of dynamicrisk assessment is operated).

  • Acts as achampion of safety among all others (shops, executives, NASA, and contractors)leading by example at all times with driving the Beyond Zero program.Stewards the operational safety roadmap withactive engagement, accountability and communication leading to a culture changein proactive safety in the workforce.Imbues the highest qualities of a culture of caring.Participates in corporate beyond zero safetytraining and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical / Electrical based apprenticeship orequivalent qualifications.

  • The successful candidate must have the abilityto work on their own and also be a fully integrated member of a team.

  • The post holder will undertake other duties asmay be required to achieve the Company‚Äôs objectives, commensurate with thegrading of the post.

  • Extensive experience as a qualified maintenance/ service engineer operating in an industrial environment (Preferably in the federalor DoD sector).

4 year engineering degree or 15 years maintenanceexperience in electrical or mechanical/HVAC.
