Senior Digital Design Engineer
TheApplicant for this position will be responsible for producing high speeddigital design using TTL Logic, CMOS, PAL's, PLD's, DSP, Analog, Telecom, andSensor Interfaces. Performing circuits and systems simulation, prototyping,layout & fabrication. Working with analog detectors (IR, CCD), temperaturesensors, flow sensors, accelerometers, and other types of sensors. Designing digital,analog, clocking and power circuitry with high speed, high performance analogconverters (ADC). Designing filters andamplifier circuits. Understand andanalyze system level design requirements. Interpret design specifications and performschematics capture.
Generating and maintaining BOM. Interfacing with CPLDsand/or FPGAs. Preparing Interface Control Documents. Testing and qualifyingprototype boards. Characterizing analog performance (SNR, SFDR, Crosstalk,etc...). Integrating hardware in Aerospace instruments. Review existingpublications, literature, conference proceedings to investigate solutions torequirements. Work within team to design and simulate viable circuits. Supportcircuit layout and post-layout simulation. Prepare and participate in designreviews. Develop verification plans for design work. Validate circuitperformance in test laboratory facilities. Diagnose problems and formulaterework or redesign solution.
Bachelorsof Science degree in a related STEM discipline; Electrical Engineering, orComputer Engineering from an accredited college preferred. Excellentunderstanding of analog and digital electronics is required.Minimum of 15 years relevant (20 years preferred)relevant Spaceflight / Astronautical aerospace Industryengineering experience focused on architecting, designing, implementing, andtesting digital signal processing subsystems. Experience with high-speed mixedsignal circuit card design and/or high-density, high-speed digital circuit carddesign. Experience creating and reviewing engineering documentation – designspecifications, schematics, bills of materials, PCBs, and testplans/procedures. Experience with PCBassembly and test procedures. Experiencewith FPGAs and/or embedded processors. Demonstrated experience managing andpresenting technical data to stakeholders and customers in design reviews andtechnical interchange meetings. Experience designing with Xilinx and/or AlteraFPGAs. Knowledge of FPGA design implementation with VHDL design language. Strongunderstanding of digital circuits / systems performance characteristics. Knowledge of hardware communicationstandards, e.g. UART, RS232, RS422, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, USB, PCI-Express, SATA,MIPI, LVDS, Display Port, HDMI, etc. Experience with CAD tools such as OrCAD,Allegro, Altium, PADS, etc.
Demonstrated experience in high speed digital productdesign, development and testing. Should have experience with high speeddifferential lines and serial interfaces technical starndards and electricalcharacteristics. Should have experiencedesigning with high speed, high performance ADC for communications applications.Demonstrated experience analyzing digital signal processing performancecharacteristics, collaborating with an engineering team in the correction ofproblems and Leading efforts to develop, integrate, characterize, and testdevices. Experience working in a fastpaced facility engineering environment.
