Jacobs HS&E Manager (US Virgin Islands) in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico
An exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team working on one of the largest Disaster Recovery Programs in the United States. You will be part of an expert team working with local communities across the US Virgin Islands, supporting the Office of Disaster Recovery in building safe, resilient & thriving communities by completing key recovery projects to transform and strengthen the Territory’s infrastructure.
Our Program management team is looking for a highly collaborative Senior HSE Manager to relocate to either St. Thomas or St. Croix in support the delivery of a multi-billion dollar disaster recovery program. In this role, you’ll support BeyondZero performance that is inclusive of Jacobs’ Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) program. Jacobs is providing PMCM services across a wide verity of projects across the islands. We’ll rely on you to take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm and for driving strategies and performance while supporting continuous improvement. You’ll maintain open communication with the client & program management team providing technical resources & guidance, to ensure consistent implementation of HSE processes & tools that support Jacobs and the Client’s HSE strategic plans and objectives.
Responsibilities
Support the client in the development and implementation of health & safety policies, procedures & processes.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to Program team to verify occupational HSE regulations and ensure policies, process & procedures are understood and implemented
Attend Client contractor preconstruction kick-off and progress meetings to discuss overall safety requirements of the Contractor as it relates to the Client’s safety requirements.
Review contractor’s HSE submittals/programs as they pertain to client’s rules, policies, standard details, and specifications.
Regularly observe and verify client contractor’s implementation of these plans and provide reports to the program management team.
Professional HSE certification and/or bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field
10+ years of demonstrated construction experience in managing subcontractors in the heavy Civil, Industrial or Buildings construction sector’s
Completed OSHA’s 30-hour Construction Training course in the previous 5 years
Experience with managing and conducting safety compliance and training
Working knowledge in applicable regulatory compliance, as well as all federal, state and local agencies requirements
Display strong leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
Valid driver’s license, good driving record with reliable transportation and the ability to drive to active construction projects on a regular basis
Willing and able to relocate to the US Virgin Islands of St. Croix or St. Thomas - relocation will be offered
