Responsibilities :

Responsible for NASA Langley Ground Data Systems software (GDS) and the hardware architecture; quality testing support and maintaining the Configuration Management Plan. Apply DevOps Agile approach to custom software development lifecycle processes in the newly implemented configuration management system, using the Atlassian suite of tools JIRA, Bitbucket, and Confluence.

  • Establish a software quality/testing plan with related processes to ensure software changes are tested at the system and regression levels.

  • Guide the software development team through the use of DevOps sprint, scrum, release planning and execution using the Atlassian Confluence, Jira and BitBucket tools

  • Develop and conduct software test plans in collaboration with the developers and the operational end users

  • Automate regression test plans to ensure key features are not impacted by planned software deployments

  • Record and communicate all related test results

  • Maintain the configuration management plan to ensure the processes are applied and improved for the GDS hardware architecture and custom software products

  • Develop and maintain instructions, training, and documentation for configuration management, software quality/testing and the related tools

  • Facilitate meetings for the change control board, CM and SQA processes

  • Perform CM audits (physical and functional)

  • Administer the Confluence Portal with a “get there from here” design to ensure facility users have access to information for each software product, system architecture, and related topics.

  • Work with NASA’s Web Services Office (WSO) support team to administer the Atlassian tools to support the CM and Software Quality processes

  • Oversee the JIRA workflows, capture metrics, and address backlog.

  • Oversee the JIRA entries throughout the workflow and address task issues

  • Ensure software version descriptions are complete and follow the required CM processes

  • Confident and articulate written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent presentation skills; comfortable speaking in groups of 20 or more

Here’s what you’ll need :

US Citizenship required. Must be able to maintain a security clearance. BS degree in a Computer or System Science discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive, relevant experience or MS degree possessing three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or PhD with one (1) to three (3) years of experience. Equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications is applicable.

  • Project admin experience with the DEVOPs Atlassian tools (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence) of 5 years.

  • Automated test development experience of 8 years

  • Software test plan development experience of 8 years

  • Agile (Sprint, Scrum) software release management experience or 5 years

  • Configuration Management experience 5 years

Essential Functions

Work Environment:

Office /Test/ Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities. Travel between various facilities/test operations is required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. (65%)

Equipment and Machines:

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.)

Facility / test operations equipment (electronic instrumentation, networks, desktops, servers, computer racks, etc.)

Safety and Personal Protective Equipment. (85%)

Physical Requirements: Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35lbs (35%).

Regular attendance mandatory (100%)

Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (20%)

Less than 10% travel required
