Jacobs Certified Operations Specialist - Jackson, MS in Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Jacobs is seeking a Certified Operations Specialist to join our team in Jackson, MS. As an Operations Specialist, you'll be responsible for supporting the overall management and leadership of various projects within the project and support the region as needed on various Water and Wastewater items with a focus on operating protocols and procedures, identification, review and management of key metrics, sampling and permit compliance, health and safety, quality, training and other ancillary topics in coordination on identified needs. Under the direction of the Project Manager and in coordination with key local and support staff, you'll be working to build and maintain positive business and customer relationships, and be responsible for the planning, organization, operations, maintenance and improvement of the assigned projects and tasks. You'll also be responsible to help support the implementation of safety policy and procedures and maintaining the operation process control including compliance with regulatory agencies. • Grade III Water or Wastewater Certification
• 5 plus years of experience in operating or managing water and/or wastewater plants with increasing levels of responsibility
• 5 plus years of supervisory experience
• Proficient performing mathematical and algebraic calculations associated with water/wastewater treatment
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates or College degree highly preferred.
• Capable of working independently and maintaining an orderly schedule managing competing priorities
• Understanding of the technical aspects of the facilities to be supported
• Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills
• Willingness to travel approximately 50%
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as, outdoors which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.
