Jacobs Electrical Engineer / Lighting Designer in Herndon, Virginia

Our team of multi-disciplinary experts is seeking an experienced Electrical Professional Engineer who will utilize their design expertise to dream big ideas on various and complex water and wastewater utility projects. We’d rely on your collaboration skills to lead our team members, and coordinate interdisciplinary work between teammates, for both local and remote projects. The projects associated with this position will focus on electrical distribution systems primarily for water and wastewater treatment facilities, which typically include process treatment structures and buildings. By you taking the lead with generating and reviewing electrical equipment drawings, specifications, and approving vendor submittals we will continue to ensure the solid relationship our clients have come to expect from Jacobs. You’ll also assist in a proactive manner with internal as well as external business opportunities. You will also have opportunities to focus on lighting design for various buildings and other infrastructure-related projects in close coordination with other disciplines while using AGI32and Visual software, You will be responsible for generating project documents including drawings using Revit, AutoCAD and MicroStation software. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to be licensed in multiple states
• 5 years of experience in professional design of electrical systems, preferably associated with water projects
• Low and medium voltage power distribution experience
• Solid understanding of applicable industry electrical codes, and standard practices, including the National Electrical (NEC) and NFPA requirements
• Hands-on knowledge and design proficiency in electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options
• Experience with AGI32
• Experience with BIM/CAD programs such as MicroStation, AECOSim, AutoCAD and Revit • Good oral and written communication skills to work with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• Instrumentation and Control system design experience
• LEED or similar sustainable design experience
• Experience with renewable energy systems like wind and solar
• Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements
