Based in Reston, Virginia you will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects and utilize your highway/roadway design expertise learned at school working on transportation related projects throughout the Country. You’ll work with the best Engineers and Project Managers in the business. We want you to be empowered to deliver the boldest solutions for everyday living. Work at this level requires the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment with other project engineers on the detailed drainage analysis and design of urban and rural transportation and rail projects.

  • Conduct drainage analysis and design per the requirements of the project and various transportation public agencies such as TxDOT, DART, and other public agencies.

  • Provide support in the preparation of contract drainage drawings, specifications, and estimates.

  • Assist in the preparation of projects specific drainage reports and technical memorandum.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Dallas Transportation Drainage Lead, Transportation Project Manager(s) and other project(s) staff members.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Stormwater Drainage Group Lead and/or Principal Engineers / Project PEs as needed.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required from a U.S. ABET accredited school or equivalent.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

  • Course work related to transportation and water resources (Hydrology and Hydraulics)

  • Basic knowledge of the principles of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (Microstation/OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D) is preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of and experience using H&H design software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, SUDA, OpenRoads) is preferred but not required.
