Your Impact:

When you join Jacobs as an overnight Inspection Team Leader in Virginia, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of key projects, including the I-66 project in Fairfax and Prince Williams Counties. We’ll look for you to lead the inspection team through performing thorough and detailed visual and tactile inspections of every structure assigned utilizing your formal training and guidance provided in the VDOT Traffic Ancillary Structure Inventory and Inspection Manual. We’ll have you utilize sound engineering judgement and experience in determining specific details or conditions that could affect the structure or the public’s ability to travel. You will define the condition ratings for the structure and structure’s components while providing thorough and consistent documentation and inspection reports indicating conditions and component ratings.

While leading the team, you will assign repair recommendations and develop corrective actions lists. Also, you’ll facilitate entering the structure into the statewide inventory that will serve as the baseline for the as-built condition of the structure. This opportunity will allow you to act as the liaison with program staff, contractors, agencies, and outside officials regarding policies and procedures. You will play a key role in ensuring on-site traffic protection for yourself and your team while keeping Jacobs’ strict project and company safety protocols at the forefront.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor of Engineering Degree

• Substantial experience in highway structure and bridge inspection

• Prior completion of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved 80-hour Bridge Inspection Course

• Prior completion of FHWA approved Ancillary Highway Structures Inspection and Maintenance Course

• Working knowledge of the Virginia Area Protection Manual

• Prior completion of OSHA fall protection training

• Ability to work overnight

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Professional Engineer (PE)

• Structure and bridge design experience
