Jacobs Water/Wastewater Process Engineer Professional Intermediate in Holladay, Utah

Provide planning, consulting, design, and construction-phase services for municipal, federal, industrial, and other clients for water and wastewater treatment. Work with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve successful design of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities and help lead clients to the correct treatment approach by utilizing desktop calculations, bench analysis, pilot plant operation, and full-scale operational troubleshooting. Support business development efforts and help in the pursuit of new projects, as well as work directly with clients on the projects and tasks, developing long-term client relationships. Perform a variety of municipal drinking water and wastewater treatment and potable reuse engineering work in the initial planning and design phase of projects. Work on projects evaluating and selecting the best treatment approach to solve a client’s challenges and planning and designing treatment systems and plant improvements. Work with water treatment processes that may include coagulation, rapid mix, flocculation, sedimentation, biological treatment, granular media filtration, biological filtration, membrane filtration, disinfection (ozone, UV, free chlorine, chloramine), post-filter adsorption, and other treatment processes. Work with wastewater treatment processes that may include fine and coarse screening, grit removal, odor control, primary clarification, secondary biological treatment processes such as activated sludge process, secondary clarification, tertiary treatment processes such as media filtration or biological filtration, membrane filtration, disinfection (ozone, UV, free chlorine, chloramine), aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion, sludge thickening, advanced wastewater treatment processes such as aerobic granular sludge.

Telecommuting is allowed.

TRAVEL: Up to 10% domestic travel for site visits and client meetings.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in water and wastewater treatment and 3 years of work experience as a Wastewater Engineer or in a closely occupation. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, employer will accept: a Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in water and wastewater treatment and 4 years of work experience as a Wastewater Engineer or in a closely occupation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge of:: Expertise with water treatment processes that may include coagulation, rapid mix, flocculation, sedimentation, biological treatment, granular media filtration, biological filtration, membrane filtration, disinfection (ozone, UV, free chlorine, chloramine), post-filter adsorption, and other treatment processes. Expertise with wastewater treatment processes that may include fine and coarse screening, grit removal, odor control, primary clarification, secondary biological treatment processes such as activated sludge process, secondary clarification, tertiary treatment processes such as media filtration or biological filtration, membrane filtration, disinfection (ozone, UV, free chlorine, chloramine), aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion, sludge thickening, advanced wastewater treatment processes such as aerobic granular sludge. Expertise with water and wastewater treatment process modelling tools such as waterpro, biowin or sumo demonstrating mathematical modeling of chemical/physical/biological processes in water and wastewater treatment. Expertise with hydraulic design and analysis: use of hydraulic model tools such as fathom. ability to develop spreadsheets for hydraulic calculations. Perform engineering design: prepare and review engineering drawings. preparing design standards and calculation spreadsheets. writing and reviewing specifications for treatment equipment and technologies. writing engineering reports. equipment design and selection. reviewing construction submittals, shop drawings, and responding to request for information (RFI) forms. Expertise with pilot testing: designing pilot testing experiment including sample collection and testing for engineering design. conduct pilot testing. Expertise with developing control strategies/narratives for treatment process and equipment operation.
