We are looking for a driven and curious client-focused Stormwater Professional in Honolulu, Hawaii to support our stormwater compliance and environmental science teams. Travel to project locations will be required, and there is the possibility for some work to be done remotely.

In this role, you’ll coordinate with clients and project managers to monitor construction projects to verify and document compliance with stormwater permit conditions and other regulatory requirements. You’ll have the opportunity to work within our transportation, water, and environmental sectors. Additionally, you’ll support our ESP practice by assisting in environmental permitting and documentation, general field work assistance, biological and habitat surveys, and restoration/mitigation site monitoring.

You’ll also:

· Coordinate with Environmental Manager, Environmental Compliance Staff, and Contractor crews to ensure proper BMP implementation

Inspect construction projects to verify and document compliance with environmental permit conditions and regulatory requirements

  • Write detailed inspection reports to document site conditions, work activities, implementation of BMPS and compliance with permit requirements

  • Identify and report on noncompliance issues identified in the field.

  • Assist in the completion of field assessments for permit applications.

  • Conduct permit tracking and closeout activities.

· Attend various field location meetings including safety tail gate discussions, weekly environmental compliance meetings, trainings, and pre-activity meetings.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • A minimum of 2 years field experience as an inspector of construction sites

  • 2-5 years experience as a scientist, biologist, or science-based field technician; or similar position (a Master's degree may count as 1 year of experience; internships and related technical assignments may be considered for the required experience.)

  • Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) or equivalent certification, or the ability to obtain CISEC certification within 3 months

  • Excellent technical writing and computer literacy

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • BA, BS or MS in Environmental Sciences or Studies (e.g. biology, environmental science, ecology, planning, botany), Construction Management or Civil Engineering

  • Experience inspecting active construction projects for compliance with environmental permits and approvals, and completing water quality sampling and monitoring

  • Understanding of City and County of Honolulu, state, and federal permits

  • Experience assisting in the completion of field assessments in support of permit applications/documents for projects in the transportation, transit, utilities, water, and environmental sectors
