Jacobs Component Manager in Houston, Texas
NASA’s Mission Operations for the International Space Station is located at Johnson Space Center. On Jacobs’ JETS contract we provide engineering services to JSC. Come join us and be a vital part of operating the largest space station ever built. We’re looking for a Component Manager on the Portable Life Support System team.
The selected candidate for this role will:
Assist in writing and updating Component design documents.
Assist in updating Component development schedules.
Assist in updating Component specification documents with requirements and verification and validation (V&V) plans.
Update the PLSS Development Plan to keep it in sync with schedules.
Assist in reviewing test rig updates made by the ground support equipment (GSE) group.
Help generate test rig requirements based on component specification V&V plans.
Assist in writing test reports for components.
Work with PLSS Component Owners to help them manage the day-to-day activities associated with their Components.
Develop risks and risk mitigation plans for rollup to the higher-level risk system.
Generate and update Component end-item specifications (EIS).
Plan out tasks and prepare budgets.
Perform other duties as required.

BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of ten (10) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of eight (8) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degree and a minimum of four (4) years of experience.
Experience managing projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software.
Experience with Microsoft office products (including Visio and Project).
Experience with testing and/or design of turbo machinery.
Experience/knowledge related to NASA's EA-023 design process.
Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
