Johnson Space Center is NASA's hub for human spaceflight. We provide a wide range of engineering and technical services to NASA at the Johnson Space Center. We are looking for an Divisional IT Coordinator to coordinate the IT service and project needs of the Engineering Directorate's Structural Engineering Division.

The selected candidate for this role will:

  • Manage Divisional IT Projects and IT Solutions on-boarding in coordination with Divisional, Directorate, cross-contract and Center resources.

  • Develop complete project plan including schedule, budget, team cohesiveness and communication, risk assessment and documentation

  • Monitor scheduled deliverables against established plans

  • Provide budgeting, forecasting, and cost estimating support

  • Provide project briefings and presentations as needed to management

  • Provide limited end-user support to End-User Services Program Office (EUSO) computer seats -- User support includes mitigating user accounts, resolving password issues, assisting with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Data at Rest (DAR) issues, facilitating the resolution of network connectivity issues, drive mapping, application access, and printing issues.

  • Non-EUSO Printer management: Manage maintenance and operation of all division owned (GFE) printers and plotters within the organization – troubleshoot hardware/network issues and update printer queues as needed.

  • Submit Service Requests via Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) ServiceNow or NASA Access Management Systems (NAMS) for IT equipment and services including but not limited to EUSO computer and mobility seats, office telephones, network connectivity, distribution lists, moves, calendar and conference room accounts, Lync accounts, etc.

  • Submit Incident Requests via ESD ServiceNow as needed to report issues with network, telephone, or EUSO computers issues for division users.

  • Review, log, and approve ESD ServiceNow service requests for the division

  • File Share: Manage permissions; create sub-folders as needed; monitor usage.

  • Hardware Inventory -- Maintain an accurate inventory of division-owned computers, printers, plotters, monitors, cameras, network switches and multimeters; and ensure obsolescence plans are complete and comprehensive.

  • Software Inventory and Software License Tracking -- Maintain an accurate inventory of all software tools utilized in the ES division on both GFE and EUSO computers; issue and track third party software licenses (i.e. Acrobat, MS Project, etc.) and ensuring not to issue more licenses than have been purchased.

  • Conference room support: Maintain all conference room PC hardware and software configurations and ensuring that all third party software updates are current and assist users with conference room equipment when requested.

  • Complete annual IT Phasing Plan for the division; review IT purchase requests and issue IT plan numbers to track procurements in the IT Purchase Plan.

  • Respond to all division IT actions and data calls.

  • Review draft Agency and Center documentation associated with NASA IT.

  • Maintain Division specific documentation and Knowledge Base necessary for user support. This includes the non-networked configuration and computer operations.

  • Meet with Management weekly to: disseminate EA, IRD, Center, and Agency IT information as related to the division; request approval to procure IT hardware and software to meet division requirements.

  • Work with the budget office to procure approved IT hardware, software, and annual maintenance agreements in accordance with Center and Agency policy (i.e. Section 516, MFR 100, etc.).

  • Manage software license maintenance agreements to ensure timely renewal, and consolidate licenses where possible by reviewing license utilization logs annually.

  • Perform the IT coordination function which includes representing the division at the bi-monthly IT coordinator meetings; respond to EA, Center, and Agency data calls and actions; support the weekly IRD Enterprise Services Integration meeting (ISIM); IRD liaison for EUSO seat refreshes; route and escalate IT issues to the responsible Engineering or NASA IT support resource for mitigation.

  • Coordinate Division SharePoint Site Collection Management: Manage permissions; create new sub-sites as needed to support new project or division needs – this does not include customization but just creating a new site and giving system administrative rights to the responsible project manager.

  • Support Agency, Center, and Directorate data calls and actions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Self-motivated, team player, and adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products.

  • Experience organizing and prioritizing tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules.

  • Experience with preparing written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

  • Experience with effectively interacting with customers and management at all levels.​

Requisition Preferences:

  • ​ Bachelor degree in a computer, systems science or related discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) to ten (10) years of progressive, relevant experience.

  • Experience with NASA IT systems and processes​.

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
