We are looking for an Estimator – Machined Parts, Composites and Assemblies to join our team with Barrios Technology, Inc. , a JETS teammate company. Do you have the following skills?

The selected candidate will:

  • Estimate machining of exotic metal projects for various parts manufacturing, fabrication, and assemblies in a fast paced and controlled machine shop environment

  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required content of estimates & provide complete conceptual estimates and estimates prepared with incomplete plans to carry through to final estimates

  • Analyze sketches, blueprints and other documentation including CAD, 3D Model, DXF, etc. files to prepare cost, material, and labor estimates

  • Interact with vendors, customers, and personnel in other departments to initiate task change requests, review changes to estimates and resolve issues

  • Source vendors for specialized services, obtain costs and lead time for all outside process to support bid preparation

  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling workload

  • Perform closed job reviews.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • BS degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years related experience, or MS degree and two (2) years of related experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited college or university - OR - Associated technical degree or two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines, and twelve (12) years of related experience (or a BS degree with ten (10) years of related experience will also be acceptable)

  • Position requires specialized and extensive knowledge of job estimating and engineering principles gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty

Requisition Preferences:

  • ​Experience in a manufacturing environment with emphasis in CNC, lathes, mills, and sheet metal fabrication

  • Experience in Aerospace, Defense or Automotive manufacturing environment especially with aerospace metals manufacturing including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Hastelloy, and Inconel

  • Familiarity with the NASA/JSC hardware development and Engineering Life Cycle processes

  • Working knowledge of the NASA/JSC drawing system JSC 8500.4, the Engineering Drawing Control Center (EDCC) and Design and Data Management System (DDMS)

  • Familiarity of quality procedures and documentation for Class 1 Flight Hardware, including material test reports, certificates of compliance, and heat treat and other quality records

  • Strong computer skills and experience in utilizing software tools such as Creo (version 5 preferred), Microsoft Word and Excel, Office, Outlook, and Project.

  • Able to make independent, technical and tactical decisions with a high attentiveness to detail

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
