We have the unique and significantrole to partner with NASA at Johnson Space Center (JSC), to be part of everyhuman spaceflight program – the International Space Station (ISS), NASA’s Orionspacecraft, which will carry astronauts into deep space, and Gateway, theorbiting platform providing the home for astronauts to work and travel back andforth to the moon’s surface, and serving as the platform for deep spaceexploration. From critical systems onthe ISS to enable astronauts to live and work in space; to performing advanceddevelopment for systems leading to deep space exploration; to being part of thefoundation for Gateway.

We also partner with NASA at JSC,the only NASA center in the United States to curate all astromaterial samplesreturned from exploration missions, to perform curation services, orbitaldebris analysis, and basic research to further humankind’s understanding of theorigins of our solar system.

As a Genesis GN&C Modeling and Simulation Engineer you will:

  • Implement improvements and enhance Genesis capabilities

  • Improve the usability of the Genesis user interface to simplify prototyping of algorithms and models

  • Enhance 3- and 6-DOF powered ascent capabilities for lunar and Mars

  • Incorporate new vehicle, environment, and aerodynamic models for Commercial Crew, Gateway, and lunar/Mars

  • Implement heritage and new flight guidance algorithms, control systems, and navigation models

  • Expand unit testing and improve model documentation

  • Perform and document model/simulation verification and validation

  • Improve on-boarding of new users

  • Create a detailed user’s guide with example cases of historical vehicles

  • Use Genesis to develop mission trajectory designs, GN&C algorithms, and validate their implementation in flight software

  • Directly interact with the NASA customers, along with various NASA support contractors, during technical meetings and working groups.

  • Performother duties as required.



Thisposition has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate'sexperience, requirements and business needs, we reserve the right to considercandidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • ABachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering schoolwith five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a Master’s degreefrom an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineeringexperience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) yearsof related experience.

  • Knowledgeof high level programming languages such as C/C or Fortran.

  • Expertisewith Linux and the Python scripting language.

  • Experiencewith the development, verification and validation of 6-DOF GN&C spacecraftsimulations.

  • Abilityto apply knowledge and experience towards timely completion of technicalproducts and services.

  • Excellentcommunication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. consistingof NASA civil servants and various contractor employees.

  • Strongleadership skills.


  • A Master’s degree inAerospace Engineering with an emphasis in GN&C principles andorbital/flight mechanics.

  • Expertise in the Juliaprogramming language.

  • Familiarity withMATLAB/Simulink.

  • Experience in productdelivery and management utilizing source code management tools such as Jenkinsand Git/GitLab.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, butcan involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). Mayrequire lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).


Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peakperiods and surge requirements when required.
