ISS Counter Measures System (CMS) Engineer
NASA’s Mission Operations for the International Space Station is located at Johnson Space Center. On Jacobs’ JETS contract we provide engineering services to JSC. Come join us and be a vital part of operating the largest space station ever built. We’re looking for an ISS Counter Measures System (CMS) Engineer.
We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening, however we do not have assurance at this time if and when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews.\
The candidate selected for this critical role will:
Sustain the Exercise Equipment aboard the International Space Station (ISS) through hardware development, manufacturing, and assembly; in addition to troubleshooting anomalies and resupplying hardware.
Process ISS crew workout and hardware response data, analyzing and documenting results for presentation to customers.
Work in a team environment, and report to project lead or project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.
Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware or test support hardware.
Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
Interact frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA System Managers, and operational customers.
Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.
Perform other duties as required.

BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of ten (10) years of direct engineering experience; MS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of eight (8) years of direct engineering experience; or PhD degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of four (4) years of direct engineering experience.
Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required.
Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flight hardware process and certification
Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels.
Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team.
Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Experience with ISS Counter Measures Systems and in-flight hardware processing for spaceflight.
Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems.
Experience with Astronaut interface/communication.
Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis.
Experience with procedure development.
Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
Co-op or Intern experience at JSC or other NASA agency
Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
