We are looking for a Junior GNC Engineer to join our team with GeoControl Systems, Inc. , a JETS teammate company. Do you have the following skills?

​This position will work on the ISS Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) Team and the Gateway GNC/RPO Team providing technical oversight, program integration, and certification of ISS Visiting Vehicle (VV) Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems and the Gateway GN&C system.

The selected applicant will:

  • Certify ISS VV GNC system requirements compliance through review of analysis and test reports, including assessment of navigation sensor performance, trajectory dispersions, and other GNC parameters.

  • Conduct, document, and present performance assessments on delivered GNC data from ISS VV providers.

  • Provide console support during ISS VV missions; develop tools for real-time ground monitoring of the VV GNC system.

  • Plan, develop, review, and maintain Gateway GNC and RPO subsystem requirements, provide recommendations for changes, and develop the appropriate verification methods and associated language.

  • Review and revise Gateway GNC and RPO specifics of the NASA Interface Requirements Document (IRD).

  • Perform Gateway GNC system analyses to verify compatibility of the design with functional and performance requirements.

  • Identify and resolve GNC/RPO performance related issues and assist others in the resolution of issues.

  • Directly interact with NASA customers, along with various NASA support contractors, during technical meetings and working groups.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school.

  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics.

  • Knowledge in the development of GNC algorithms and analyzing system performance for spacecraft.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative engineering environment.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.

  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products.

Requisition Preferences:

  • MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GNC, flight controls, and orbital mechanics.

  • Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements, including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.

  • Experience with spacecraft rendezvous and proximity operations.

  • Familiarity with spacecraft docking systems.

  • Experience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GNC hardware and software.

  • Experience with NASA flight operations and procedures.

  • Familiarity of NASA/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites.

  • Experience with LINUX, C++, Python, and Git/GitLab.

  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink tool boxes.

  • Experience with the NASA Trick simulation architecture and JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics) modeling package.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).


Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
