The successful candidate will serve as the attorney for multiple business units serving clients in the oil & gas, chemicals, mining, minerals, and heavy process industries. The candidate will be expected to be a senior legal adviser and “business partner” to the company’s operations and sales organizations and will work closely with other members of management, HR, IT, etc. The candidate will be a hands-on lawyer, and a strategic thinker who thrives in a matrixed environment of highly educated, highly motivated professionals. The candidate has at least 5 years of experience as a lawyer in the engineering & construction and/or energy industries. Typical responsibilities include contract drafting and negotiation, claims and litigation management, corporate compliance, labor and employment law, among other areas.
Structure, review, draft and negotiate both domestic and international EPC projects, proposals, subcontracts and ancillary documents
Review, draft and negotiate engineering, procurement and construction project contracts and ancillary documents
Manage the aspects of project execution issues, claims, disputes and litigation
Advise on legal issues impacting the business on a day-to-day basis, including employment related matters, leases and regulatory matters
Implementing, monitoring and supporting corporate and commercial policies and procedures;
Advice and coordinate with the corporate insurance group and project managers on all
Law degree from an accredited law school
Admission to the bar in Texas
Strong writing skills
High degree of motivation, excellent organizational and communication skills and strong academic background
Able to work with and communicate effectively with non-lawyers
Preferred candidate has prior In-House experience
Preferred candidate has experience working in the energy or construction industry
At least 5 years’ of legal experience.
Familiarity with EPC Contracts and Project.
The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, the ability to work independently This position will report to a senior attorney in the Houston Legal Team.
