Micrometeoroid/Orbital Debris Risk Analysis Engineer
NASA’s Mission Operations for the International Space Station is located at Johnson Space Center. On Jacobs’ JETS contract we provide engineering services to JSC. Come join us and be a vital part of operating the largest space station ever built. We’re looking for a Micrometeoroid/Orbital Debris Risk Analysis Engineer to join GeoControl, a JETS teammate company.
The selected candidate for this role will:
Perform MMOD impact risk assessment of spacecraft using in-house analysis tools.
Work closely with JETS HVIT colleagues and NASA customers to develop analysis requirements.
Research and collect spacecraft geometry, material, and operating parameters to support analysis.
Create spacecraft geometry and material models to support analysis.
Compile analysis data and report results to project team and customers (both internal & external).
Perform math model verification and validation of risk analysis code.
Perform benchmark testing of risk analysis code.
Support the in-house development of various analysis and modeling tools.
Support and participate in technical interchange meetings.
Support other activities under the HVIT project as needed.
Perform other duties as required.

BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.
Experience with finite element modeling.
Experience with data reduction and analysis.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office to generate presentations and reports.
Demonstration of strong communication skills.
Must work well in a team environment.
Must be detail oriented.
Must be willing to travel to technical meetings and remote work locations (both domestic & international).
Experience with FORTRAN77/95 or other high level computer language.
Experience with scripting to automate computer processes.
Experience with probability and statistics.
Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstration of creativity, conception, vision and personal initiative.

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
