We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Architect for Avionic Gateway System to join our team with teammate company, McLaurin Aerospace.
Responsibilities:
The Network Architect supports the Gateway Command and Data Handling (C&DH) System, a critical sub-system of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon
Support network configuration, VLAN, architecture
Support Time Trigger Ethernet design and network integration
Support FPGA/ASIC development/procurement of hardware/software and interface
Support ethernet protocols and internet protocols for Quality of Service, network end systems, wired network switches, and wireless design
Review design and create models for performance and reliability studies
Support cybersecurity efforts including application of NIST 800-53
Support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering
Support product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities
Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications
Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements
Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews
Work and present schedule and progress to customers
Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Perform other duties as required
Here’s what you’ll need :
Requisition Qualifications:
This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5 - 10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required
Must have minimum 5 years' of relevant experience in engineeringMust have knowledge and understanding of ethernet network architecture and network hardware development
Must have a knowledge of spacecraft avionics and space hardware development
Must have knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies
Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, critical thinking process.
Requisition Preferences:
Should have knowledge of IEEE 802.1, IEEE 802.3, ARINC 664-P7, and AS 6802
Should have Network Certification (CCNP, CCAr, CompTia Network
Should have knowledge of Avionic Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork
Should have experience in the NASA systems
Should have experience with Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork or prior working experience with Shuttle or International Space Station flight operations
Should be familiar with Hardware for Critical Network Timing Systems used in Command and Telemetry type systems
Should be familiar with Data Analysis, Data Recording, and Network Simulation Tools
Should have experience with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Linux Bash Scripting)
Should have familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
