Primary Job Responsibilities:
Technical resource for the design and implementation of wired and wireless networks to support IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) applications such as wireless asset tracking.
Designs, configures, and supports an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), customer networks, Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment(s) of a network system
Communications and/or security systems engineering services such as writing specifications, video/data network design, cost estimates, fiber optic and wireless network deployments, and all associated testing required to ensure proper system integration and functionality
Knowledge and proven experience end-to-end communications engineering across RF, Antenna, Modem subsystems for router applications
Participates in schedule planning, producing a deliverables list, man-hour development TIC cost development and management for assigned projects
Skills shall include the ability to estimate adequate signal coverage for wireless network antenna systems including wireless networks were the devices are not sufficiently smart enough to act as repeaters forming a mesh network.
Produce system block diagrams and preliminary designs for estimates with priced equipment lists and man-hour estimates for services.
Produce detail design for wired and wireless networks including utilizing engineering and design tools such as RF spectrum heat maps for network coverage.
Engineer wireless solutions such as wireless zone and triangulation location tracking of assets utilizing WiFi, RFID and Bluetooth technology.
Develop scope of work documents to support project installation, testing and commissioning.
Coordinate with Global Integrated [project] Delivery (GID) office(s) aka workshare office(s) to ensure work packages are being prepared in compliance with Lead office / Client requirements
Provide technical direction for selection of items to be specified, ensure compliance with client requirements and standards, check specification / requisition packages prepared by others
Prepare engineering specification and requisition packages for inquiry and purchase
Prepare technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchase
Interface with suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications
Review vendor data to assure specifications and project requirements are met
BS or MS in engineering or related discipline; PE license or equivalent preferred
Outside industrial wireless design is required
10 years of experience in network design and applications preferred
8 years of experience in industrial applications such as; oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical preferred
Certifications: preferred to already have or desires to get Cisco Certification: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
Experience in various phases of vendor selection and technical negotiation
Experience in hardware inspection, FAT, SAT, loop checks, start-up and commissioning
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Experience in network Infrastructure design, Technical IT Operations, Networking & Cloud computing, IOT Integration platforms or complex system integrations, IT Security & Privacy, Big Data, Analytics and streaming/real time analytics, IIoT Field Technology: devices/sensors, M2M, SCADA, edge computing, wireless communication protocols
Familiar with Cloud platforms to include: AWS, OpenShift, BlueMix, Pivotal Cloud Foundry
Familiar with HTTP and REST
Experience with IIoT technologies including: WiFi, 802.11, WLAN, RFID, Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, Cisco, Axeda, Thingworx, Wind River, SCADA, M2M, AI, XBee, WiHart, ISA100
Experience with database Instrumentation tools such as: SPI/Intools, ABE (Aspen Basic Engineering), Aveva, Comos.
Experience in network security, routing, switching, wireless technology configuration and programming skills
Other Essential Functions:
Keen safety awareness
Ability to perform path and link analysis for both wireless and fiber optic systems desirable
Ability to troubleshoot and maintain new and existing control, security and network based systems
Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility
May require travel to national and international jobsites and supplier locations
