We are looking for a Section Manager to join our team. Do you have the following skills?

The Section Manager will:

  • Supervise and assigns tasks to a team of technicians with the following classifications: electro-mech tech, cleaning mech/tech mu, and shipping & receiving techs at multiple grades

  • Acquire and maintain an appropriately sized and skilled workforce, and assign personnel to projects

  • Develop and update procedures and work instructions for work performed by the section

  • Perform management duties, including but not limited to, conducting performance evaluations, developing plans for career success, and implementing measures for disciplining employees

  • Develop and oversee the preparation of appropriate training materials and procedures to train technical personnel

  • Develop, implement, review, and update operational policies and procedures

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with NASA customers, stakeholders, and other external entities

  • Coordinate work with, and provide services to a wide range of scientists, engineers, and managers in a highly dynamic and occasionally time-critical environment

  • Coordinate with Infrastructure group via meetings to support new facility modification requests and other work on systems that require coordination.

  • Track and manage work via a Task input and tracking Tool providing weekly and monthly updates at meetings

  • Perform other duties as required

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of direct engineering experience, or an MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. and four (4) years of direct engineering experience

  • Must be familiar with managing union employees and understanding the Collective Bargaining Agreement policies

  • Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to assign and track multiple job tasks simultaneously

  • Must have previous experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment

  • Must have outstanding customer service skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Teams are required

Requisition Preferences:

  • Ideal candidates have a degree in mechanical or industrial engineering with prior experience managing engineers or engineering technicians

  • Preference will go to candidates with previous cleanroom experience including knowledge of cleaning methods, cleanroom contamination, and cleanroom systems

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust the schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
