We are currently in need of a Software Engineer to join our Counter Measures System (CMS) 2nd Generation Treadmill (T2) Software team.

The Software Engineer will:

  • Monitor system integration and interface management and coordination

  • Update the following documents as required:

  • Software Requirements Specification

  • Verification and Validation Document

  • Software Test Plan

  • Government Certification Approval Request

  • Support the efforts to update to T2 product documentation:

  • T2 Software User Guide

  • Software Development Plan

  • Software Design Document

  • GUI to middleware ICD

  • Middleware to CLU ICD

  • NASA Code con-ops

  • Interface with NASA and spacecraft designer engineering teams

  • Pre software release testing

  • Support Use flow, look and feel demos of the GUI software in its functional form to all stakeholders

  • (i.e. crew representatives, ASCR, etc.).

  • Review lower-level software testing and verification

  • Demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, and coordination skills

  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors

  • Work in a fast-paced, Agile environment

  • Perform other duties as required

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised

  • Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science and four (4) years of progressive experience, or Ph.D. degree in a computer of system science discipline

  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding

  • Experience in Software

  • Engineering Life Cycle

  • Experience in Software Development and Integration

  • Experience in Verification and Validation

  • Experience in Writing/reviewing test and verification definitions

  • Experience in Software testing and verification

  • Experience in Use of web-based collaboration tools including git, Jira, Confluence and

  • SharePoint Experience with hardware integrated testing and functional testing

  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude

  • Fostering and working in a collaborative team environment

  • Proficiency with team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, WebEx, SharePoint, Windchill

  • Must be willing to work onsite at Johnson Space Center

Requisition Preferences:

  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation

  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC engineering processes

  • Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases as well as typical systems engineering products

  • Familiarity with Safety Critical Human-Rated Software Development Processes

  • Familiarity with Software project management experience

  • Familiarity with NASA software and systems development standards (incl NPR 7150.2)

  • Familiarity with Agile software development

  • Familiarity with Code Review

  • Familiarity with Unit Testing

  • Familiarity with Run for Record test and results

  • Proficiency in LabView

  • Proficiency in Google Go open-source programming language

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Proficiency in Linux

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python

  • Project Management

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).


Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
