We have an exciting opportunity for a Spacesuit Project Manager to join our team!

As a Space Suits Project Manager, you will:​

  • Perform project management and engineering functions for space suit development, including requirements development, hardware development, manufacturing, assembly, and test.

  • Manage the engineering team for the specific space suit subsystem assigned.

  • Provide budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating support.

  • Monitor cost performance for their subsystem development against established plans.

  • Develop and maintain company and customer financial reports.

  • Oversee and develop schedules, procedures, work instructions and process flows.

  • Develop risks and risk mitigation plans for rollup into the higher-level risk system

  • Interact frequently with inter-organizational disciplines, NASA System Managers, and operational customers.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Requisition Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience.

  • Experience managing and leading engineering projects.

  • Experience with financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines.

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system

  • design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software

Requisition Preferences:

  • Engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and twelve (12) years of direct

  • Engineering experience, or Ph.D. degrees and nine (9) years direct engineering experience.

  • Experience with space suits or life support systems

  • Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flight hardware process and certification.

  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
