Become part of our Houston, TX team as a Structural Engineer who is excited and passionate about diversifying their careers and performing civil work designs for a wide variety of clients including conventional designs for buildings, water, and wastewater infrastructure. Your work will include the design of pump stations, treatment facilities, conveyance and storage systems, locks and dams, tidal gates and barriers, and floodwalls. You’ll lead project teams through the design process and interact directly with clients, owners, and contractors.  You’ll be accountable for schedule, scope, budget, and technical quality of engineering tasks, calculations, and construction documents. The ideal candidate will build technical relationships within civil works staff across Jacobs and our various business lines associated with water clients and will coordinate civil works design activities and interface with waterfront ports and maritime engineers on coastal and inland waterways projects.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis 

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license 

  • At least 10 years relevant professional experience for civil works and buildings-related design projects

  • Federal design experience for USACE

  • Experience working in a multi-discipline environment 

  • Construction support services for civil works projects 

  • Experience with BIM 360 and Revit

  • Proficiency in structural finite element analysis software (e.g., ETABS, RISA, RAM, STAAD, SAP2000, Mathcad)

  • Knowledge of building codes & standards (International Building Code, ASCE 7, UFC’s etc.)

  • Proactive attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork

  • Experience with office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams) and review software (Bluebeam)

  • United States Citizenship

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Structural Engineer (S.E.) license

  • Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff

  • Federal design experience for DoD, Federal Civilian and/or Defense Contractor project experience

  • Heavy civil works experience with onsite participation in construction activities

  • Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentations

  • United States Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain
