Jacobs Structural Engineer - Ports and Maritime (Multiple openings) in Houston, Texas

Perform engineering analysis, design, field inspection, and construction support primarily for Ports related structures. This includes waterfront marine wharves, piers, and bulkheads. Analysis responsibilities include using education and training in structural engineering to perform structural modeling primarily in STAAD Pro and some finite element work. Perform design using relevant design codes to size and detail structural members for capacity and serviceability criteria required. Field inspection duties will consist of assessing existing structures for damage and deterioration from land and water as well as site visits to gather data or inspect installations for design projects. Construction support duties will consist of onsite assessment of contractor construction progress, review of contractor submittals, responses to questions, field engineering, and report writing.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering and 2 years of work experience as a Structural Engineer or a related occupation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS: Must have 2 years of work experience with: Applied Structural Analysis. Applied Structural Design including Steel Design. Structural Modeling Software. Application of Structural Design Codes. AutoCAD. Finite Element Analysis Tools.

Expertise/ knowledge of: Pre-stress Concrete.
