We are looking for a Thermal Analysis Engineer to join our team with the Engineering Department.

The selected candidate will:

  • Support the thermal analysis group.

  • Simulate and evaluate performance of agile and passive thermal control systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats including the Orion spacecraft and vehicles capable of lunar or Mars missions.

  • Correlate thermal models to test results.

  • Develop thermal models of space hardware or test equipment using Thermal Desktop analysis code and first principal models with standard desktop software.

  • Perform other tasks assigned.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised .

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Knowledge of programming in one or more of the following: FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic.

  • Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to use data to draw conclusions and support the conclusions when challenged.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in a team environment.

Requisition Preferences:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school.

  • Experience with developing thermal simulation models of spacecraft hardware and systems at varying levels of fidelity ranging from detailed, first-principal models to more descriptive lumped-parameter models.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
