We have the unique and significantrole to partner with NASA at Johnson Space Center (JSC), to be part of everyhuman spaceflight program – the International Space Station (ISS), NASA’s Orionspacecraft, which will carry astronauts into deep space, and Gateway, theorbiting platform providing the home for astronauts to work and travel back andforth to the moon’s surface, and serving as the platform for deep spaceexploration. From critical systems onthe ISS to enable astronauts to live and work in space; to performing advanceddevelopment for systems leading to deep space exploration; to being part of thefoundation for Gateway.

We also partner with NASA at JSC,the only NASA center in the United States to curate all astromaterial samplesreturned from exploration missions, to perform curation services, orbitaldebris analysis, and basic research to further humankind’s understanding of theorigins of our solar system.

We are currently in need of a Volatiles Investigating Polar ExplorationRover (VIPER) Motor Controller Project Manager to join our team with MRI , a JETS teammate company. Doyou have the following skills?

As a Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover (VIPER) MotorController Project Manager you will:

  • Perform project management for the VIPER motor controller through hardware development, manufacturing, and assembly.

  • Provide budgeting, forecasting, and cost estimating support.

  • Monitor cost performance against established plans.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks.

  • Develop and maintain company and customer (primarily government) financial reports.

  • Oversee and develop procedures, work instructions and process flows.

  • Review and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy of reporting.

  • Interface frequently with inter-organizational disciplines and NASA managers.

  • Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures when applicable.

  • Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

RequiredEducation/Experience/Skills:

Thisposition has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate'sexperience, requirements and business needs, we reserve the right to considercandidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Minimum: BS degree in Engineering from anaccredited engineering school and ten (10) years of related engineeringexperience.

  • Prior experience with government and internalcompany financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and costestimating.

  • Prior experience managing and leading a team.

  • Experience with NASA/JSC Class I flighthardware process and certification.

  • Must be able to review Work AuthorizationDocuments (WADs) to process Class I hardware for flight/testing support.

  • Self-motivated, team player and adaptabilityto a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments asrequired.

  • Excellent oral and written communicationskills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers andmanagement at all levels.

  • Ability to prepare written documents and toverbally present at various meetings.

  • Must have the ability to visualize and workwith complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problemsolving as part of a team.

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasksin order to meet deadlines and schedules.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Preferences:

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC)organizations, processes, and procedures.

  • Prior experience with hardware anomalytroubleshooting and failure analyses.

  • Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycleprocess.

  • Familiarity with common hand tools andproficiency using them to perform assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting onmechanical systems.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, butcan involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). Mayrequire lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peakperiods and surge requirements when required.
