The Systems Lifecycle Group, in Jacobs’ Aerospace & Technology line of business, is looking for a new team member to help build out its contract management solution. Provided to internal and customer users as a Software as a Service, it plays a foundational role in supporting our firm’s diverse businesses.
As a member of the growing team you will provide software engineering services within the scope of the program/project in accordance with Advanced Systems Division processes.
Knowledge, skills & abilities required:
Knowledge of, and skill in applying, most of the following: software engineering principles, methods, and practices in the assigned specialty area; systems development life cycle management concepts; performance monitoring principles and methods; quality assurance principles; technical documentation methods and procedures; systems security methods and procedures; analytical methods; and oral and written communication techniques sufficient to accomplish assignments such as: perform routine and recurring assignments in the specialty area; identify and resolve issues and problems; prepare and update manuals, instructions, and operating procedures; provide information and assistance to customers; evaluate established methods and procedures and prepare recommendations for changes in methods and practices where appropriate; and ensure the application of appropriate security measures to the assignment. Knowledge of, and skill in applying applications software development principles and methods sufficient to participate in the design, development, testing, and implementation of new or modified applications software.
A working knowledge of computer programming with direct experience using Visual Studio 2005/08/10, C++, C#/..NET Framework, MFC, COM/dCOM, JAVA, ASP Script, WebService, SQL Server, WPF, Win-Forms, MS Access, HTML, and/or multiprocessor software applications and distributed computer networks.
Use of computer systems with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Employee must also provide programming support for nonstandard and proprietary hardware and software systems
Guidelines (level of supervision required to perform):
Supervisor instructs the employee on the purpose of the assignment and its scope, limitations, expected deadlines, and priorities.
Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignment, completed work is reviewed in terms of meeting requirements.
Complexity of tasks/responsibilities:
Work involves: carrying out tasks requiring application of specific standards, methods, and procedures; and a complete segment of an assignment or project of broader scope.
Work affects the overall accuracy, reliability, acceptability, and timeliness of the final work products or services developed or delivered by higher-level co-workers.
Work consists of various duties that involve applying a series of different processes and methods.
The employee decides what needs to be done based on analyses of the subjects and issues related to the assignment; and selects appropriate courses of action from many acceptable alternatives.
The employee identifies and analyzes important factors and conditions in order to recognize and apply an understanding of interrelationships among different functions and activities.
Assists in the development of requirements related documentation (such as the RTM, SRS, etc), and ensures proper process is followed.
Assists in determining whether requirements adhere to standards, are properly traced, reviewed and placed under the appropriate level of control.
Creates and maintains applicable Software Design Plans, Software Development Plans, Unit Test Plans, Test Scripts with Test Data, for each appropriate application.
Performs technical tasks to include requirements, design, code and unit test activities. Applies advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts in related technical disciplines or in a specialty.
Supports resolution of technical issues as they arise.
In addition to software engineering activities, provides support for the preparation (including briefings, metrics and status reports) and attendance of technical and managerial meetings and reviews as well as any other travel activities specified by the program.
Identifies and reports any project risks to the Risk Manager and/or Development Lead.
Assists other software engineers as directed.
Completion of employee performance appraisals and employee counselings, if assigned the responsibilities of employee supervision.

Qualifications-
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related scientific or engineering discipline with 3 years of related work experience.
The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Essential Requirements:
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary. Some walking and standing may occur in the course of a normal workday in connection with travel to and from meeting and conferences. May carry light items, such as reports, data products, notebooks and laptops.
Work Environment:
Cubical environment in a restricted work area or remote for the right applicant
Criticality of Attendance:
Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Required hours are from 9am to 3pm. With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
Equipment and Machines:
Standard office equipment and machines: personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.
Other Essential Functions:
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
