Jacobs JSEG Blast and Debris Engineer (AER0000JA) in Huntsville, Alabama

JSEG Blast and Debris Engineer (AER0000JA)

Description

Research, analysis, test, and modeling will be performed with the full rigor of an engineering analysis requiring clear problem identification, evaluation of alternatives, analytical assessments as necessary to evaluate alternatives. Findings will be reported in a clear, concise and technically understandable format.

  • Ability to develop, code, and apply physics-based models for the prediction of thermal environments, blast and debris environments, pressure vessel ruptures, and propellant explosions.

  • Highly skilled with MATLAB and its application with modeling and simulation.

  • Experience designing, testing and measuring gaseous Hydrogen/Oxygen, Methane/Oxygen, and Kerosene/Liquid Oxygen explosion over-pressures for the development of blast models.

  • Familiarity with the design and fabrication of experimental test apparatus and structures.

  • Capacity to implement and maintain data acquisition systems including National Instruments hardware/software and Programmable Logic Controllers.

  • Capability to sort, catalog, and analyze debris from launch vehicle failures for input into empirical models.

  • Experience handling explosives, cryogenic liquids, flammable gasses, and high-pressure systems.

The Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) offers a partnership in which you can grow personally and professionally within a framework of strong leadership, competitive compensation, and rewarding career paths.
